If your
doctor has agreed, you may obtain repeat prescriptions of your
routine medication by contacting our dispensary, using one of the
following methods:
By leaving the tear-off computer print-out attached to your
prescription, with the items you require clearly marked, at the
dispensary.
By posting the computer print-out to the surgery for
collection in person or enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope
for the prescription to be posted back to you. (Please note
that for dispensing patients we are not able to send medication
itself through the post.)
By telephone for the main surgery, only, on: 01284 702119 between 8.30 am and
6.00 pm Monday to Friday. (Please note that the dispensary
telephone line can be very busy and you may find it easier to order
by another method.)
By fax for the Barrow branch, only, on: 0844 4473922.
Online through a secure site:
EMIS Access
Please note that you need to have set up your account to use
this online facility. To do so please contact our reception.
It will be necessary for you to attend the surgery, bringing with
you some form of identification, such as a driving licence or
passport. If you are unable to attend you must provide
another person, acting on your behalf, with signed, written
consent and a means of identification with your signature on it to be given these details. Clearly,
access to the online facility needs to be secure, hence the need for
the above precautions. Please retain the details you are
provided with once you have set up your account.
Please allow 48 hours between requesting the repeat medication and
arranging collection of the prescription or dispensed items.
This is to allow time for prescriptions to be generated, checked and
signed by your doctor and any queries to be dealt with. If you
return to collect your prescription or medication within 48 hours it
may not be available, necessitating a further trip to the surgery
for you or an extended wait.
It
is our practice policy to issue repeat prescriptions for 28 days
medication at one time. Limiting prescriptions to this length
of time has been shown to reduce waste. Exceptions to the
28-day rule include medication, such as hormone replacement
treatment, that is packed in 84-day packs. If you are
travelling abroad on an extended trip, we are able to let you have
up to 12 weeks medication, however we are not able to take
responsibility for providing longer courses of medication.
Dispensing:
We are able to provide a dispensing service to you if you live in a
rural area or in a village near Bury St. Edmunds, providing
you live more than one mile from a retail pharmacy. This
provides you with the convenience of being able to collect your
medication at the time of your surgery visit without the need to
visit a retail pharmacy afterwards. Repeat medications can be
collected directly from the surgery without having to take the
prescription to a retail pharmacy. (For those who are
housebound, we are able to provide a delivery service for repeat
prescriptions.) If there are any queries
relating to the medication these can be dealt with directly by the
doctor, on the premises. You do, however, retain the right to
have your medication dispensed by a retail pharmacy, if you so
choose, and the town's pharmacies do provide collection services for
their customers and may deliver items to housebound people.
